Josiah ALLSOP lived all his life in, or near, Hornchurch (Essex).
After 3 years of searching I eventually proved that the entry in the Hornchurch Parish Register for a birth of `Thomas ALLSOP` in 1802 was in fact Josiah`s birth (confirmed by the Bishop`s Transcript of the register, which reads `Josiah`). This, at last, gave me Josiah\'s parents; Thomas and Mary (who already had a living son called Thomas, so the register must be wrong).
Robert and Mary`s children are the first entries for ALLSOP in the Hornchurch registers, so they must have moved in from elsewhere. They married in Doddinghurst Essex (Mary`s parish), but banns were also published in South Weald, which was Robert`s parish, and included Brentwood, where I suspect the family originates. However proof of this has not been found.
