In 1984, The West Surrey Family History Society transcribed the inscription as :-
Cha BAVERSTOCK who died [?May] 19[?27]
aged 82 years
also Sarah wife of ….. BAVERSTOCK
who died Sep 28 1831 aged [?79] Years
By 2002, the inscription had deteriorated so much it was virtually unreadable. With the benefit of family knowledge and the Parish Registers the inscription should read:-
Charles BAVERSTOCK who died May 1823
aged 82 years
also Sarah wife of Charles BAVERSTOCK
who died Sep 28 1831 aged 79 Years
